  1. Write honestly about emotions.

  2. Are open about relationships.

  3. Give hope to their readers.

  4. Provide healthy, non-fattening entertainment at little expense.

  5. Educate their readers about people, places and times.

  6. Make their readers smile or cry. Make them feel.

  7. Have their work read by millions of people around the world.

  8. Are tough enough to write about honest emotions and take the flack for doing so.

  9. Belong to a group of talented, supportive writers.

  10. Stand together against ignorant criticism.

  11. Celebrate the best in people.

  12. Can change the world.
